London, England (Sports Network) - Arsenal announced on Wednesday that the club will allow goalkeeper Manuel Almunia to leave the Emirates Stadium when his contract expires next month.

Almunia has appeared in 175 matches for the Gunners since signing from Celta Vigo in 2004.

But the 35-year-old has slipped down the pecking order in recent years behind both Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski.

Almunia failed to appear in a Premier League game this season for Arsenal, and played in just four Carling Cup matches in all competitions.
