Description: RB Laurence Maroney is officially a free agent after the Broncos failed to tender him a pick. SOURCE: DENVER POST
Insight: Josh McDaniels royally blew this one when he dealt the Patriots a fourth rounder last year for basically garbage. Maroney is officially a first-round bust who owners should stay away from.

Description: TMZ is reporting that Laurence Maroney has reportedly been released without charges after his Monday night arrest for possession of marijuana and unlawful use of a weapon.
Insight: "Mr. Maroney was unlawfully arrested for possession of weapons," said Maroney's rep. "He holds a permit to carry a concealed weapon and he had his permit on his person when he was arrested. He was not arrested for any drugs nor was he involved in a high speed chase. He was released without being charged with any offense and we do not anticipate he will be charged with any criminal offense." Stay tuned for more details, if any emerge. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: According to his rep, RB Laurence Maroney has been released from jail and has not been charged with possession of marijuana or unlawful use of a weapon. SOURCE: TMZ.COM
Insight: Maroney's rep said his client has a permit to carry a weapon, which he had on his person when he was pulled over with three other men. He was also not charged for "any drugs nor was he involved in a high speed chase." We should have more updates soon, but it sounds like Maroney is okay.

Description: Broncos RB Laurence Maroney was arrested late Monday night for unlawful weapons charges and drug charges. SOURCE: KMOV.COM
Insight: Still in custody, Maroney was reportedly with three other men when the cops pulled them over. Entering free agency this offseason and coming off an absolutely horrid performance in place of an injured Knowshon Moreno, it will be hard for Maroney to get off to a fresh start with this looming over his head.
Description: Maroney ran for just 5 yards on 11 carries on Sunday, the second straight game in which Knowshon Moreno was sidelined.
Insight: Maroney has been pretty much worthless with Moreno out. There's not much reason to own him in the typical fantasy league. (RapidDraft.com)
10/2/2010 12:02:00 AM
Description: Maroney should get the nod as Denver's starting running back again with Knowshon Moreno set to miss a second straight game.
Insight: Tennessee has allowed just one rushing touchdown so far, with opposing backs averaging 4.2 per carry. That's not a stellar defensive number, but this also isn't a favorable matchup for Maroney, a fairly weak fantasy option. (RapidDraft.com)
9/27/2010 10:05:00 AM
Description: Maroney garnered eight more carries than anyone else in the Denver backfield on Sunday but took his 12 attempts for just 24 yards. He also caught two passes for 40 yards.
Insight: Although his Week 3 performance didn't do much for anyone, it at least seemed to reveal Maroney's standing in the backfield. He's worth rostering in many fantasy leagues, particularly for Knowshon Moreno owners. (RapidDraft.com)
9/26/2010 4:39:00 PM
Description: Broncos RB Laurence Maroney got the start over RB Correll Buckhalter against the Colts.
Insight: We had an inkling that Josh McDaniels would start his old Patriots protege. The good news is that this doesn't necessarily mean Maroney will have the better fantasy day.
9/25/2010 3:01:00 PM
Description: Maroney is listed as probable and appears ready to play his first game for Denver. He missed the first two weeks with a thigh injury but should be in for some carries with Knowshon Moreno out.
Insight: Maroney is worth claiming in fantasy leagues in case Moreno misses more than just this week. Correll Buckhalter is the stronger Week 3 option, though. (RapidDraft.com)
9/15/2010 4:15:00 PM
Description: Newly-acquired Broncos RB Laurence Maroney was referred by HC Josh McDaniels as a "third back" at his Wednesday press conference. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: The Broncos clearly don't trust Correll Buckhalter as Knowshon Moreno's backup for the entire season with Buckhalter's injury concerns, making Maroney an interest handcuff prospect in dynasty leagues. Redraft owners will want to keep an eye on the situation over the next 2-3 weeks.
9/14/2010 5:01:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday afternoon that Maroney has been traded to the Broncos.
Insight: Maroney certainly won't supplant Knowshon Moreno, but he joins a backfield with injury and depth concerns. Another injury to Moreno could turn Maroney into a starter. Until then, he's a free agent in most fantasy leagues. (RapidDraft.com)
9/14/2010 4:18:00 PM
Description: The Broncos have traded for Patriots RB Laurence Maroney. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: This does nothing but help Maroney since he was sinking fast down the depth chart. Josh McDaniels knows Maroney well and could slowly install him as the backup. If anything, Maroney is worth a pickup in large leagues.
9/3/2010 11:10:00 AM
Description: Patriots RB Laurence Maroney has reportedly been dealing with multiple injuries, including an abdominal strain, groin and ankle issues. SOURCE: BOSTON GLOBE
Insight: Maroney has taken part in practices, but missed the first three preseason games. He rushed nine times for 32 yards Thursday night, but he is still someone to either leave on the waiver wire, or draft in very deep leagues.
8/21/2010 3:47:00 PM
Description: Laurence Maroney didn't have a single carry in the Patriots' second preseason game Thursday night.
Insight: It's very clear the Patriots just don't believe in Maroney as a regular running back. The entire Patriots backfield is one to avoid. (RapidDraft.com)
8/8/2010 8:50:00 PM
Description: Laurence Maroney vows to run with more physicality this season.
Insight: He never has before, so he expects people to believe he will now? Even if he does, he will still need to leapfrog several geriatric running backs in front of him to get playing time. (RapidDraft.com)
3/31/2010 9:36:00 PM
Description: The Providence Journal reports that Bill Belichick was concerned about Maroney?s propensity to fumble last season.
Insight: That will not help him regain the starting position he held once upon a time. Maroney just doesn?t show signs of ever being a running back that fantasy will be able to depend on. (SportsBuff.com)
1/11/2010 9:01:00 AM
Description: Maroney carried one time for two yards on Sunday against the Ravens.
Insight: Maroney had only the one touch during the game as he has not been trusted since fumbling in Week 16. (SportsBuff.com)
12/29/2009 8:20:00 AM
Description: Maroney had five carries for 22 yards against the Jaguars on Sunday.
Insight: Maroney started the game and was running well before losing a fumble and being benched for the rest of the game. He is now a risky start in Week 17.(SportsBuff.com)
12/21/2009 7:52:00 AM
Description: Maroney had 23 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown against the Bills on Sunday.
Insight: Maroney has now scored nine touchdowns on the season. (SportsBuff.com)
12/15/2009 12:55:00 AM
Description: Maroney rushed 22 times for 94 yards and caught two passes for 17 yards against the Panthers on Sunday.
Insight: Maroney saw more than 20 carries for the third time in his last six games and topped 90 yards for the second time this season. (SportsBuff.com)
