Rio Grande Valley's Asumnu takes weekly honors

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Stanley Asumnu of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Dec 12-18.
For the week, the 6-5, 220-pound forward out of Tennessee averaged an NBA D- League-high 26.0 points to go along with a team-high 12.0 rpg, as the Vipers went 1-1.
In helping Rio Grande Valley snap the Austin Toros' three-game home win streak Thursday, Dec. 16, Asumnu posted game highs of 28 points and 10 rebounds, as the Vipers scored a 119-108 victory. The following night, in a 124-114 loss on the road against the Texas Legends, Asumnu recorded another double-double, scoring 24 points and pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds. On the season, Asumnu is averaging 20.0 points and 8.9 rebounds while shooting .582 from the field.
Other top performers considered include the Tulsa 66ers' Xavier Alexander, who averaged 17.0 points and 5.5 rebounds; the Reno Bighorns' Christopher Ayer, who averaged 23.5 points and 10.0 rebounds; the Erie BayHawks' Tirrell Baines, who averaged 25.0 points and 7.5 rebounds; the Dakota Wizards' Maurice Baker, who averaged 22.0 points and 8.5 rebounds; the Los Angeles D-Fenders' Brandon Costner, who averaged 25.0 points and 8.0 rebounds; the Austin Toros' Eric Dawson, who averaged 14.7 points and 8.0 rebounds; the Bakersfield Jam's Osiris Eldridge, who averaged 24.3 points; the Maine Red Claws' Paul Harris, who averaged 22.0 points and 12.5 rebounds; the Fort Wayne Mad Ants' Cameron Jones, who averaged 23.0 points and 4.0 rebounds; the Idaho Stampede's Reginald Larry, 15.3 points and 10.3 rebounds; the Sioux Falls Skyforce's Billy McShepard, who averaged 15.7 points and 12.0 rebounds; and the Iowa Energy's Michael Tveidt, who averaged 19.5 points and 4.5 rebounds.
