Nats minor leaguer Strasburg wins debut
Altoona, PA (Sports Network) - Washington Nationals minor league pitcher Stephen Strasburg won his debut on Sunday, pitching five innings in Harrisburg's 6-4 victory over Altoona.
Strasburg was the No. 1 overall draft pick from last year and he signed for a record $15.1 million over four years with the Nationals in August.
The 21-year-old right-hander jumped to the Double-A Eastern League for his professional debut. Pitching in front of a crowd of 7,887, he allowed four hits and four runs -- one earned -- while walking two and fanning eight batters.
Strasburg also had an RBI double in the Senators' three-run fifth inning.
