Adam Dunn, DH, CWSHot6/18/2013 10:44:00 AM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn is 8-for-28 (.286) with three doubles, two homers, five RBI, seven walks and three K against Twins starter Mike Pelfrey.
Insight: Dunn is hitting .379 with five homers over his last eight games and should be active in all fantasy lineups Tuesday with Pelfrey on the mound.
Billy Butler, DH, KAN6/17/2013 9:45:00 AM
Description: Royals DH Billy Butler has gone 6-for-13 (.462) with two home runs against Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco.
Insight: After a career year in 2012 (.313, 29 HR, 107 RBI), Butler has disappointed here in 2013. He's hitting .276 with five homers and a .785 OPS, but this matchup is favorable.
Mark Reynolds, DH, CLECold6/17/2013 9:38:00 AM
Description: Cleveland 1B/3B Mark Reynolds is 1-for-10 with six strikeouts against Kansas City starter james Shields.
Insight: Reynolds has one homer in his last 15 games and just one hit in his last 14 at-bats, so avoidance is best.
Travis Hafner, DH, NYYCold6/16/2013 11:00:00 AM
Description: Yankees DH Travis Hafner has gone just 4-for-27 (.148) against Angels starter Jered Weaver, who will start Sunday.
Insight: To make matters worse, Hafner is 0-for-23 over his last six games and his average is down to .219 for the year. Get him out of the lineup immediately.
Mark Reynolds, DH, CLECold6/15/2013 10:32:00 PM
Description: Cleveland 1B/3B Mark Reynolds went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and two strikeouts Saturday against the Nationals.
Insight: Reynolds had not homered in 13 straight games and came in hitting .174 with two homers and 43 strikeouts in 115 at-bats over his last 33 games.
Adam Dunn, DH, CWSHot6/15/2013 10:21:00 PM
Description: White Sox DH Adam Dunn went 1-for-4 with a solo homer Saturday against Houston.
Insight: Dunn has crushed five homers over his last six games and six over his last 10. He has 18 on the year, and his .182 average should be on the rise once his luck turns a little. The DH has just a .177 BABIP.
Kendrys Morales, DH, SEA6/14/2013 9:59:00 AM
Description: Mariners DH Kendrys Morales (back) was out of the lineup Wednesday, his second consecutive missed start, and is questionable for Friday's game against Oakland.
Insight: The team doesn't think it's serious and after a day off on Thursday should be ready to get back in the lineup for the weekend. Morales is hitting .292 with eight homers and 35 RBI.
Edwin Encarnacion, DH, TORHot6/13/2013 11:00:00 AM
Description: Toronto DH Edwin Encarnacion has not been fazed by the dominance of Texas starter Yu Darvish.
Insight: Encarnacion is 5-for-10 with two homers and four RBI against Darvish, though he went 0-for-2 against him with two walks and one strikeout on June 8. Encarnacion is hitting .266 with 18 homers, 53 RBI and 40 runs.
Billy Butler, DH, KAN6/13/2013 10:59:00 AM
Description: Royals DH Billy Butler has gone 5-for-9 (.556) with two doubles against Rays starter Jeremy Hellickson.
Insight: After a career year in 2012, Butler has disappointed here in 2013. He's hitting .269 with five homers and a .782 OPS.
Luke Scott, DH, TAM6/13/2013 10:46:00 AM
Description: Rays DH Luke Scott has a nice matchup Thursday versus Ervin Santana of the Royals.
Insight: Scott is 8-for-21 (.381) with two round-trippers and six RBIs against Santana. If you've been holding onto him despite his injury and .207 average, today would be a good day to get him in the lineup.
Kendrys Morales, DH, SEA6/12/2013 6:22:00 PM
Description: Mariners DH Kendrys Morales (back) is out of the lineup again Wednesday.
Insight: Morales was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to lingering lower back soreness. He was removed from Saturday's game with the same injury.
Mark Trumbo, DH, ANA6/12/2013 11:57:00 AM
Description: Los Angeles Angels DH Mark Trumbo is not in Wednesday afternoon's lineup, according to Orioles beat writer Roch Kubatko.
Insight: Trumbo is batting .264 with 15 HR and 44 RBI this season, but has stumbled over the past week and could probably use the time off.
Billy Butler, DH, KAN6/12/2013 11:04:00 AM
Description: Royals DH Billy Butler is one of the few hitters in baseball who performs well against Tigers ace Justin Verlander. Butler is 23-for-55 (.418) with two homers, 10 RBI and a 1.075 OPS against Verlander.
Insight: Butler is finally getting his average up where it belongs after a slow start. This matchup should continue his upward push.
Kendrys Morales, DH, SEA6/11/2013 9:07:00 PM
Description: Mariners DH Kendrys Morales was scratched from Tuesday's lineup.
Insight: More lower back stiffness for Morales. He was removed from Saturday's game with the same injury.
Travis Hafner, DH, NYY6/11/2013 11:52:00 AM
Description: Yankees DH Travis Hafner should be sitting firmly on the bench when the Yankees face Bartolo Colon as he's a career .056 hitter (1-for-18) against the A's right-hander.
Insight: Hafner homered a couple of time in Cleveland against his old teammates, but was just 2-for-12 in the three-game set with Seattle. Avoid this matchup.
Luke Scott, DH, TAM6/11/2013 11:22:00 AM
Description: Rays DH Luke Scott is a career 0-for-11 with five strikeouts against Boston lefty Jon Lester.
Insight: When Scott can get 400-plus at-bats, he produced 25-to-30 home runs, but injuries have shortcircuited him over the past two seasons. He does most of his damage against right-handers and this matchup should be avoided.
Luke Scott, DH, TAM6/10/2013 10:27:00 AM
Description: Rays DH Luke Scott is a career 7-for-18 with a pair of homers against Boston right-hander John Lackey.
Insight: When Scott can get 400-plus at-bats, he produced 25-to-30 home runs, but injuries have shortcircuited him over the past two seasons. He does most of his damage against right-handers and Lackey is a favorable matchup.
David Ortiz, DH, BOS6/9/2013 6:27:00 PM
Description: Red Sox DH David Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI Sunday against the Angels.
Insight: Ortiz is driving in runs at a prolific pace. He has 13 home runs and 48 RBI in just 45 games.
David Ortiz, DH, BOS6/8/2013 10:46:00 AM
Description: Red Sox DH David Ortiz is a prime candidate for rest on Saturday in the game Angels left-hander C.J. Wilson pitches as he's just a career .077 hitter (1-for-13) against him.
Insight: Ortiz has 11 homers and 42 RBI in just 42 games this season, and he is hitting .325 with a 21/20 K/BB, so it would be hard to take him out of the lineup, but don't expect much.
Edwin Encarnacion, DH, TORHot6/8/2013 9:48:00 AM
Description: Toronto DH Edwin Encarnacion is a career .625 hitter (5-for-8) with a pair of home runs against Texas starter Yu Darvish.
Insight: Encarnacion (.265, 17 HR, 50 RBI) has been on a roll, batting .337 over the past four weeks and has made himself a must start.
Victor Martinez, DH, DET6/7/2013 10:31:00 PM
Description: Tigers DH Victor Martinez went 3-for-4 with a solo homer Friday against the Indians.
Insight: Martinez has homered in two straight games and has his average up to .241. He still has a long way to go to get back to .300, however.
David Ortiz, DH, BOS6/6/2013 10:36:00 PM
Description: Red Sox DH David Ortiz hit a three-run walk-off homer Thursday against the Rangers.
Insight: Ortiz has 11 homers and 42 RBI in just 42 games this season, and he is hitting .325 with a 21/20 K/BB.
Victor Martinez, DH, DET6/6/2013 4:30:00 PM
Description: Tigers DH Victor Martinez drilled a two-run homer Thursday in a win over Tampa Bay.
Insight: Thursday was Martinez's first multi-hit game since May 27th. Despite his struggles (.231 AVG, .610 OPS), the slugger is still on pace for 81 RBI. Only four catcher-eligible players did that in 2012 (Buster Posey, Miguel Montero, Joe Mauer and Matt Wieters).
Victor Martinez, DH, DET6/6/2013 10:16:00 AM
Description: Detroit DH Victor Martinez should be in store for a solid fantasy day Thursday against Roberto Hernandez.
Insight: Martinez carries a .417 lifetime average versus the Rays righthander. The Tigers slugger hasn't had a great season (.226, 3 HR, 26 RBI) but we're confident he'll be able to produce on Thursday.
Mark Reynolds, DH, CLECold6/5/2013 7:50:00 PM
Description: Cleveland 1B/3B Mark Reynolds is hitting .173 with 27 strikeouts over his last 23 games.
Insight: Reynolds batted .291 with 11 homers and 32 RBI over his first 34 games, but his batting average has come back to reality.
Travis Hafner, DH, NYY6/5/2013 7:17:00 PM
Description: Yankees DH Travis Hafner has homered in his last two games.
Insight: Hafner sat out Tuesday with left-hander Scott Kazmir on the hill, but he returned to the lineup Wednesday and went deep for the 10th time this season.
Travis Hafner, DH, NYY6/4/2013 5:07:00 PM
Description: Yankees DH Travis Hafner is sitting out Tuesday against the Indians.
Insight: Indians lefty Scott Kazmir is on the mound. Hafner has just 27 at-bats against left-handers this season.
