NOTES
Henrik Stenson won the Accenture Match Play Championship last year on the heels of a victory at the Dubai Desert Classic. Stenson, who hasn`t won since, squeezed out a 2 & 1 victory over 2006 champion Geoff Ogilvy in the final match, claiming his first PGA Tour title after five wins on the European Tour. Tiger Woods will make his second U.S. start this season, and third overall, in a tournament he won in 2003 and `04. Woods has won his first two starts of the year, at the Buick Invitational and Dubai Desert Classic. Last year, Woods was knocked out by Tim Herron in the third round. Holding the No. 1 seed in the Bobby Jones Bracket this season, Woods drew FBR Open winner J.B. Holmes in the first round. Phil Mickelson (Gary Player Bracket), Steve Stricker (Sam Snead Bracket) and Ernie Els (Ben Hogan Bracket) received the other No. 1 seeds as the next three players behind Woods in last week`s world rankings. Adam Scott (Hogan), Justin Rose (Player), Jim Furyk (Snead) and Rory Sabbatini (Jones) are the No. 2 seeds. This is the first of three WGC events of the season. The other two -- the CA Championship and the Bridgestone Invitational -- were both won by Woods last season. The Golf Channel will have coverage of all five rounds from Wednesday to Sunday, handing off to NBC for late coverage on the weekend. Next week on the PGA Tour is The Honda Classic, which was won by Mark Wilson last year in a four-man playoff that ended Monday. Next week on the European Tour is the Johnnie Walker Classic, won by Anton Haig in a three-way playoff last year.
