Ypsilanti, MI (Sports Network) - Alex Gillett displayed precision passing, completing 10-of-15 attempts for 234 yards and four touchdowns, leading Eastern Michigan to a 30-17 victory over Buffalo in a Mid-American Conference showdown at Rynearson Stadium.

Gillett also added 89 yards on the ground for Eastern Michigan (6-4, 4-2 MAC) in the win. Freshman Demarius Reed had the best performance of his young career, with 78 receiving yards and his first two touchdowns at the collegiate level.

Branden Oliver led Buffalo (2-8, 1-5) in defeat, with 133 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. Chazz Anderson completed 18-of-31 passes for 137 yards for the Bulls, who have now lost four straight games.

Eastern Michigan scored the only first quarter points when kicker Kody Fulkerson connected on a 39-yard field goal just under eight minutes into the contest to give the home team an early advantage.

Gillett extended the lead at the 11:50 mark of the second quarter with a two- yard touchdown pass to Garrett Hoskins. Fulkerson's extra point attempt was blocked by Buffalo which kept the Eagles' lead at 9-0.

Buffalo's only first half points came on a 43-yard field goal by Patrick Clarke in the final seconds of the second quarter to send the game into halftime with Eastern Michigan leading 9-3.

The Bulls struck first in the action packed third quarter with a three-yard touchdown rush by Oliver with just under nine minutes remaining in the period, giving Buffalo its first lead of the game.

Gillett answered less than a minute later with a 67-yard touchdown pass to Reed that put Eastern Michigan back up 16-10.

Oliver scored his second touchdown on a 68-yard dash to the end zone with 6:35 left in the third period that gave Buffalo the lead once again at 17-16.

Gillett answered yet again on the ensuing possession. The junior quarterback capped off an eight-play, 78-yard drive with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Reed that put the Eagles up 23-17 heading into the final frame.

Eastern Michigan added to the lead in the first minute of the fourth quarter when Gillett threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Hoskins. Gillett's fourth touchdown pass of the day ended scoring with the Eagles leading 30-17.

Eastern Michigan's offense overpowered Buffalo, gaining 413 total yards to Buffalo's 252. Buffalo struggled mightily on third down as it converted just 1-of-13 opportunities.
