Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Jeremy Montgomery scored a game-high 16 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Cleveland State Vikings recorded a 73-59 win over the Wright State Raiders in the second round of the 32nd annual Horizon League Tournament at U.S. Cellular Arena.
Norris Cole added 15 points and six rebounds for the third-seeded Vikings (26-7), followed by Trevon Harmon and Josh McCoy with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
The sixth-seeded Raiders (19-14) were paced by Troy Tabler ands Vaughn Duggins with 12 points apiece in the setback.
Wright State led by a basket early in the first half, but after that the meeting belonged to the Vikings who held the Raiders to a mere 6-of-27 shooting from the floor in the period, en route to a 31-27 lead at the break.
In the second half both teams increased their accuracy from the floor, but it was a 17-of-21 effort at the free-throw line in the frame that put CSU in control and on the way to a comfortable 14-point victory.
Cleveland State, which led by as many as 23 points late in the contest, held the Raiders to just 36.2 percent from the field and 6-of-20 behind the three- point line.
With the win CSU heads to the semifinals of the tourney on Saturday and will face second-seeded Butler in the early game.
